To recap last week: I got sick :( I had to skip 2 days of biking. I made one day up by spinning yesterday, since Sunday is NORMALLY a day of rest.
Food counting has been going well, and I am still keeping up with that, too. I'm letting myself have burgers and pizza and eat out at restaurants as long as I can make it fit within my caloric range of 1400-1500 cal/day. So far, it's working. I'm also learning that the junky fast food isn't work it, even when I really crave it.
I really wanted a burger yesterday, and figured that if I skipped two afternoon snacks, I could have a Big Mac for dinner, no fries, and water. That was acceptable to me. Matt decided he really wanted Jack in the Box instead. I think I hate that place! They never get my order right! ANYWAY... Figured I could have a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger for 400 cal and still have a skinny cow fudge bar for dessert later. The burger was.. disgusting. Tiny, dried-out, shriveled little thing that lived for an unknown ammount of time under a heat lamp... very unsastisfying. I nearly tossed it in the trash when I saw it, but I decided to eat it anyway. That way, I could remember the way it tasted and the way I felt about the whole experience and stay away next time.
I am making better food choices every day! So far, I'm still only concerned about calories. I'm trying to keep processed foods out of my daily diet as well. If I'm really craving something and I can't find a substitution, I'll have it. I have to say, though.. many times I'll check the calories on junk foods and decide it's not worth it and choose not to have it in the end. It's getting easier to do.
So, health-wise.. now that I'm over this stupid cold, things are going great! :P Last week, I was hit by the double whammy of getting my period and then getting sick. I didn't think I'd lose anything, but I lost weight anyway!
Within the next day or so, I should be able to brag that I've lost 20 lbs so far :)
Another month or two like this, and I will have to get my wedding ring resized or start wearing it on my middle finger :X
Also- My right eye is getting worse.. left eye didn't change. Overall, my prescription did not change much, but I decided to get new glasses anyway. I'll take a picture when they come back from the lens lab! I haven't worn plastic frames since the 80's, but these are actually pretty cute.
And Dark Shadows? It was totally campy! It felt like I was watching a long commercial for "I can't believe it's not butter!" or that "MY BRAND!" contact lens commercial.
But you know what? It worked. It was based on a soap opera, and it felt soapy. It was also campy and fun. I'm glad I got to see it.
Unfortunately, because of SOME PEOPLE and the Nerd Law of Golden Mean, and last (but not least) the new Tim Burton Blu-Ray collection, I must now purchase his remake of Planet of the Apes. Because, really.. I'm just missing Planet of the Apes and Ed Wood now.. Which means for better or for worse, I'll be picking up Dark Shadows eventually too.
You see, the Tim Burton Blu-ray collection recently released by Warner Bros. has 7 films in the box: Beetlejuice, Batman, Batman Returns, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Corpse Bride, Mars Attacks!, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I didn't actually own Pee-Wee, the two batmans, or the Corpse Bride, so I was safe from having to purchase Planet of the Apes. I liked Ed Wood, I just hadn't gotten around to picking it up yet. Maybe partly because I wanted to get out of being obligated to get PotA?? :O OHHHHHHHSNAP.
But now I have to! 14 feature films, and I own 12 of them. I suck at math, but that's definitely more than 61.8% :P (Frankly, I'm still surprised we didn't have the batman movies on at least DVD...)
I do want to say that the DVD collection is very nice, though. The blu-ray transfer of Mars Attacks! was nice. It wasn't grainy at all, but the audio balancing seemed a little off. I haven't watched the others yet.
Gonna take a 4 hour nap and go play some Diablo III when the servers open, I think...T..T Diablo III is going to be tricky! I'm still not sure how Matt expects me to keep up with him (lvl wise) while keeping up a healthy sleep and workout schedule. He will probably end up dissappointed.
