Trouble getting started

The hardest part in the creative process for me has always been getting started. I've noticed that with pretty much everything, from essays, to assigned reading/projects, to sewing. If I know exactly how I want to make somthing, it's no problem getting started. My first Mayuri costume wasn't too bad, because I started with my spandex cowl and finished everything up pretty quickly. The hat had me stumped for a little while, but I was able to overcome that relatively easily. With my new Mayuri cowl, it's been nothing but trouble, though. I had like 4 different ideas for how I wanted to make it, and none of them seemed that great. Thankfully, Matt helped me brainstorm and came up with the idea I ultimately used to make the horns. I'm still working on them, but they are getting there. They look HUUUUGE on my wig head because my head > wig head. They kind of look like a Twi'lek's lekku on there, too XD I promise they look much better on my head, though. :P I'm still covering the foam in craft foam to give them a much sturdier base. After I'm done with the basic structure, I'm going to glue my hair extensions on there and hairspray the shit out of it.
Here's what I have so far:

After that, I've got to tackle the frame around the face. I was thinking a about heat-molding craft foam directly to my face, but I'm not sure that is going to be sturdy enough. I may make it out of fabric first, and then glue the craft foam directly to it. I need somthing that will hug the sides of my face without ripping or stretching, and also support the horns when I'm done with them. They're going to be relatively light, but they will probably be too heavy for a single peice of craft foam to support. Ultimately? METAL-->Gold That would be the best way to go, but I'm no smith, so I'm going to go with the materials I have on hand and hopefully make somthing that is comfortable, will hold up, and give me the greatest ammount of movement possible.

I also need to re-design the cowel because the black bits on the new one won't work at all with how I made my old one. I'll need to work on my no-center-seam cowel pattern to make it work, and I'll still have a little bit of creative tailoring around the eye& nose holes to do.
I was considering it, and I think at this point, full face makeup would probably be my best bet, but since the face makeup is black& white.. and the costume is black& white.. there's way too much room to smudge the paint, get it everywhere, etc. And certainly after a few hours of wear, it'll look not-so-fresh. I really do think I can make a cowl work with minimal face paint like the last one. At least I'll get to wear those fabulous contacts and that finger-nail again :O

I really do think that if I can conquer this new Mayuri head within the next week or so, I'll be able to blaze through the Arche costume. No luck on finding a costume/decorative twig broom, though. What's up with that?

To try to get more excited about getting this stuff done, I've compiled a list of costumes I hope to bring with me and actually wear this con:

Arche from Tales of Phantasia
Kurotsuchi Mayuri from Bleach
Kurotsuchi Mayuri (Hueco Mundo arc) from Bleach
Kurotsuchi Mayuri (Prison Bitch outfit) from Bleach
Cornelia Li Brittania from Code Geass
Yu~ki from Malice Mizer (Le Ciel PV)
Ashisogi Jizo ~~plush (Mayuri's creepy poison baby caterpillar bankai) from Bleach

4 day convention- that gives me more than enough for one outfit per day. Chances are, though, if I wear Mayuri, I'll only wear the new mask. I don't know I completely fixed up my old one for Expo and didn't wear it (since I spilled liquid latex all over the coat in big splotches. It's still there, but I've gotten over it and will wear it anyway). That, and I don't know if I'm going to bother making the second cowl for Prison Bitch Mayuri for this con. Considering I'd just be in my underwear kimono, I think I want a white bodysuit underneath. I wonder if my brother still has that one he was going to use for that Link costume...
I also need to bring some lolita somthing or other. I bought a pattern thinking maybe I'd sew somthing new, but I'll be lucky if I finish Mayuri& Arche in the next two weeks. I really want to make Cornelia's cloak for this con, too, since it'll hide imperfections in the back, and in the wig, but we'll see what I get done.

Gym stuff-

Skipped Tues, but made it up on Weds, but it wasn't entirely my fault. I've been trying to get Malophyte in there more often, and she said she coudln't go on Tues. I told her that if she could promise she'd go Weds, I'd skip Tues and go with her on Weds. She ended up not being able to make it on Weds, so I got stuck with a messed up work out schedule for the week, but I did go yesterday and make up my day XP So, my perfect record is still standing provided I make it today and tomorrow with no problems. This gives me a measurement date right at A-fest. I don't know if I want to do it right before, or after. Before is a little early, but who knows how much weight I'll put on at the con? D: Actually.. probably none, since I eat so poorly at those. It's sandwich mealtime and skipping a few meals usually. Now that I think on it, though... I'm going to have to hit the gym that weds before the con since I'll end up skipping Fri to drive up. Then, I'll have to go that Monday we get back XP Boo. Anyway... I wanted to lose 30 lbs by Afest and I've lost 4. Arn't goals great?
