ewww
There was a spider with a little web in the middle of the bunch of grapes I packed in Matt's lunch. I washed them off and packed them and everything and never saw it, but Matt found them when he started to eat them T..T I feel so bad. That's pretty gross. He put it in a drug vial, so at least I know it didn't bite him... or that he didn't accidentally find *part* of a spider XP

He brought it home so I could take a look at it.

Apparently, there are tons of cases every year with people finding black widows in grapes shipped in from California and South America :O

From what I've been reading it is because growers are making an effort to use fewer pesticides and to things a little more oganically.. So the spiders arn't killed. Without the pesticides, little tight bunches of grapes are the perfect spot for the black widows to set up webs, where they eat other bugs that try to eat the grapes. So they're really helping out, but there's not much you can do to keep them off your food XP They don't harm the fruit itself since they prey on the insects that would tear through the fruit, but it's still gross when you think about how everyone has become used to sterile little packets of food with no *discernable* insects in them.

Still, it seems to make big news every time someone finds one. I washed the fruit and everything, but honestly, the grapes were bunched together so tightly I wasn't able to break them apart so it's little wonder there was a spider hiding in there for god knows how long.
