Screw Halo! In French!
So, today was kind of Halo day. Actually, at 12:01, it will be Halo day. So, today was Pre-halo day. Which means tomorrow will suck even more.

I had to be at work by 9AM this morning. No small feat for a night owl married to someone who works night shifts. I've been really sick the past few days with horrible hideous sinus problems, sore throat, and (for about a day and a half) fever. I don't really throw up when I get sick, but this is the worst I've felt in a long time. I feel like it's a culmination of these past few weeks. My morning ritual of sneezing for 5 minutes straight has finally ended up in somthing conclusive- a nasty cold.

I think I'm getting over it now, though. I've been coughing and hacking up all sorts of malcoloured secretions. I didn't see any blood today, so I think I'm over the worst of it. (When I get really bad sore throats, it gets really disgusting)

Anyway... less about that, more about other things that suck- Halo 2.

I really don't see what the huge deal is about a stupid first person shooter. It's not the be-all-end-all of FPS people make it out to be. Just because it's on Xbox doesn't mean you have to cream your pants every time someone whispers "Master Chief" in your ear.
I don't like FPS, I don't like Halo, and I don't like the fact that every "OMG AWESOME" environment shot of the game I've seen looks like it was ripped off of the novel "Ringworld."
So, if you could, imagine the bliss I have been experiencing these past few days. Unending hoards of FANBOY. It's nasty. So many hicks... so many toothless dudes h-yucking over this game.

And people wonder why I can't be more excited about it.

So, I dealt with that from 9am-6pm today with no lunch break. I wanted to take a break, but we got really busy. The 3rd key had taken off on lunch, and I was left with the manager and another associate. The manager was taking care of stuff for the game launch, and I doubt I would have been able to leave if I had asked. I wanted to go after the 3rd key came back, but he took 2 hours, so by the time he got back, I only had 1 hr 45 min left to work. So, I said "screwit" and worked straight through it. I have to wonder if I would have been allowed to go if I had asked even with an hour left of work, though. We were so busy with no coverage.
I hope I can find a good time to go tomorrow.

The one thing I HATED the most about working at the Baylor cafeteria was the fact that they forced you to take your meal before your shift whether you were hungry or not.
This meant- get food and stuff yourself when you're not hungry.....
or don't eat at all. Because you really couldn't take your meal around closing when they needed you to do the most work. And besides.. there was no more food by the time you were ready to go.

I really feel that my job there contributed the MOST to my weight gain in college, and my unhealthy eating habits. It wasn't until that job that I started eating when I wasn't hungry. Now my appetite is so fucked up it's not even funny.

I try to get a break when I'm hungry, that way I can eat when I need food. If I take a break when I'm not hungry, I feel compelled to stuff myself to try to "tide myself over" until I get off my shift. It's the same here at Gameslop. I can't go and take a lunch when I'm not hungry. It's bad for me, and it's bad for my well being. However, if I don't take it when it's convienient for everyone else, and the rest of the store, I pretty much don't get it at all.

I really didn't want to make a negative post today, but I'm so worn out from work, and frustrated with fucking Halo, etc. Then again, that's what LJ is good for, right? Ranting emo fest people can skip over if they want, that way people don't have to hear you unhappy. The people that matter know what is going on.. and this gives me a place to vent so I can be HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY OMG HALO IS SO AWSM at work.

I have to admit, though.. I'm a sucker for dressing up. Even if it's somthing stupid like army fatigues, I like to play dress-up. I knew Akuma had a pair of army pants somewhere, and made it my holy mission to find out if they were still around or not. I found an old box of clothing, and some great T-shirts. (Max Headrom, Whitesnake, etc... heh) Makes me want an 80's revival. I love the tacky.
Anyway, I found the pants, and opted for a studded black belt around the lower waist/hips, a tight black T-shirt, Akuma's kickass sunglasses, and a slicked-back low ponytail. Shit. If they ever make another Tomb raider game, at least I have the hair& makeup, if nothing else.

I need to try and get more rest, or I'm never going to get over this cold. Especially when I get sub-par sleep, and have to put up with Halo morons from morning 'til night. (Now that the days are shorter, 9am-6m really does take you from morning to night.)
Then I also have to work Weds... and then I get Thurs& Fri off.. then I work Sat again, ruining any plans for the weekend XP

I hope the holiday hours arn't like this all the way through January. These past few days, all I've wanted to do is sit on the couch and sleep. But when it's time to actually sleep, I get insomnia. It's so frustrating.

One of my friends has gone crazy over this stupid game, I don't see what's so great about it either. He even wants the stupid fiberglass body suit of Master Chief for $3500. Ugh, I'm sorry you have to put up with so many. I'm going crazy with just one.

Yeah, fiberglass master chief armor... 3500 bucks? I could easily see that. Fiberglass is such a pain to work with. Sounds like a reasonable price, but it's still silly.

Gahhh I don't understand halo, but I'll probably get dragged into playing it anyway. You know I've owned my xbox for a year and a half, worked at gamestop for that same length of time, and NEVER played the original halo? XD

Strangely enough, I left a message about employment with the local district manager down here on Monday. I said "I understand you are probably very busy with the Halo 2 launch this week, would you mind calling me later this week when it is less hectic?" and he called me back on Monday. I was shocked! I figured this was going to be The Big Release of the Year. And... only 1 person came in to rent Halo yesterday. So it's kind of disappointing.
