Blah
What a bad sewing day.
I am now the proud owner of an ALMOST finished pleated skirt with a slight discoloration right on the butt...

In the shape of an iron....

Oh.. and a broken (full) bottle of starch.

I suck.

I'm very much afraid to iron my Hakama. I have two and they are both vintage, and most likely older than I am. One's cotton, and the other is silk.
Instead of ironing them, I am very careful with how I fold them, and it works pretty well. I'm certain I would have less problems with it if I was better at folding.. but I've never ironed mine.

hehe... yeah... I dunno... I only have to iron it after washing... It's mostly cotten, but its a pretty cheap thing.. but then agian what do you expect for a college student just getting into martial arts? :) ... i dunno, though, I'm actually enjoying wearing it ... much nicer than jeans... cant wait to own something a bit nicer.. :) ... but yes.. folding is a must.. if you want the plets to stay... I still have issues with the box pleats inside the legs... but all the outside plets are still nice and crisp. :)

You can sometimes find some very nice vintage silk hakama on ebay. There are a few vintage sellers out of Japan who document every flaw and mark all obvious wear.
My favorite ones.. the silk ones... have some wear on the knees. Just staining from use. It probably won't come out, but I'm not worried about it, because it's not noticable unless you're under certain lighting

And yeah.. I always have problems getting the pleats inside the legs to sit right. :/

yeah, but i'll have to buy a pair of new silk or the silk-looking material if I ever get a dan grade. :) .... hehe.. oh well... maybe for around the house? :)

Luckily, this was a cotton blend so it didn't melt or anything...
I'm going to wait until tomorrow and see if I can still notice the discoloration XP

I ironed the whole thing pretty heavily, so I think it's "fixed" XD

Eeeee... *kisses* That sucks.
Don't suppose it's a fabric that could freshen up the discolouration ina dye bath, is it?

Maybe. I have a couple of different bottles of blue RIT, but I'm hoping it won't come to that :( Gonna wait a bit and see if it looks any better in a different light in the morning
