So... I saw an ad for this some time ago.. and thought it was kind of interesting. I have never read the books, but when I was working at Hastings, they seemed every bit as popular as Harry Potter. However... I'd never seen the trailer. I knew Carrey was going to be in it, and thought that after soem of the better serious roles he'd done, it could be a cool part for him. But... the trailer makes me sad.
1- The music- How many peices of Danny Elfman scores can you mash together and shove into one trailer? I THINK they just used his stuff from Edward Scissorhands and the Adam's family, but there was a chunk in there I wasn't sure about. Hell. It was probably Elfman
2- Jim Carrey- A lot of people don't like him. I think he's ok. But... as far as his Ace Ventura type comedy goes... been there, done that.. and it looks like they're rehashing it all and adding a dash of that HIT movie "Master of Disguise" in there for good measure. Sets, costumes, etc look cool. Unless it's really very different from the trailer, though, there's a good chance it will bomb.
I only wrote this much about one trailer because I still haven't been able to decide if it's somthing I'll go to.
Hell. I go to bad movies on purpose sometimes for a laugh. Like the time N-kun and I were the only ones in the theatre for the Tomb Raider sequel. We just sat there and pretended to grope Laura Croft the whole time ^..^ BOOBIES!
Speaking of Angelina Jolie...
I still think Sky Captain looks cool...
And also speaking of Angelina Jolie... XD
Alexander- I'm sure you've all heard about this one by now. Baz Luhman and Oliver Stone were in a race to see who could put out a star-studed Alexander the Great movie first.
Stone has Colin Farrel, Angelina Jolie, Val Kilmer, and Anthony Hopkins. The movie's actually coming out soon.
The "Unnamed Alexander the Great" project had.. uh... other actors from Baz Lurhman movies? XD Seriously. Leonardo Di Caprio and Nichole Kidman.
So... ok. These were both announced at the same time. But one happened, and the other may or may not happen. When they were announced, there was a big hubub as to whether or not they were going to plumb the depths of Alexander's supposed homosexual relationship with his favorite male companion, Hephaestion. (Incidentally played by Jared Leto in the Oliver Stone flick)
Ok. Personally.. I find LeoDi creepy. I don't want to see him making out with ANYONE. I still think his best role was in What's Eating Gilbert Grape That is how I see him. XD kkthxbai
Where to start? XD
I *love* the Sandman series written by Neil Gaiman. This was my first intoduction to John Constantine's character. I didn't find out until much later that he wasn't just a bit player in Sandman, but he had his own series. I know, I'm a dork. I was sheltered as a child, and all that Jazz. But I'm better now. And when I can find them, I'll get as many graphic novels I can find. Akuma probably has a lot of the original comics. I asked him about it, and he says he used to read Hellblazer.
But yeah. I haven't even read Hellblazer, and I know that true Hellblazer fans are probably weeping right now.
The special effects and all that crap looks cool. But... when the trailers came out for Van Hellsing, we said that too, right? XD Keanu? XD Oi. So.. they changed Constantine to an American. He doesn't seem to be the rough-around-the-edges British guy who had the world take a crap on his head. Keanu does the occult. Almost sounds like a bad porno. >..> I will probably go see this one. Don't ask why.
Hero- "New" Jet Li movie. Saw the trailer at the beginning of Kill Bill Vol. 2. Looks like a kickass action kung fu flick. And.. if you saw Kill Bill Vol 2, don't forget:
OMG LIKE QUINTIN TARANTINO IS BRINGING YOU THIS MOVIE!
Harold and Kumar go to White Castle
Long title. It's from the guys that did "Dude, where's my car?" I thought they were making a sequel to that one called "Seriously. Dude, where's my car?"
But I guess this is coming out first? I don't know. I thought Dude was going to be so incredible stupid I refused to watch it for a long time.. but it was so wacky I ended up enjoying it. I shall forever remember Hal Sparks in bubble wrap because of that movie. (Speaking of which.. saw him in an elevator in the new Spidey 2 trailer.. and giggled... thought "bubble wrap... XD " )
I'm always up for some stupid fun. If I can find someone who wants to go with me, I'll probably see this one too XD
Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid
WTF Giant snakes XD
I wonder if this has anything to do with that other Giant anaconda movie that came out a loooong time ago :P Or maybe the giant fighting snakes movie that was on SciFi.. lol
This is really not my kind of movie. But did I ever tell you that I love Kevin Kline? Also- the guest musical artist thing is kinda cool. :shrugs:
The Last Shot Looks cute!
Ok, I'm done!
Just a side note: Damn. A lot of the trailers I looked at today had Val Kilmer in them! I mean.. just look at his IMDB profile Looks like he's making a comeback. (Didn't see "Wonderland" though.... but he's been a lot more active lately.)
Oh well. That's it for now. Maybe in about 4-5 months there will be some new trailers up XD
I guess I kind of just miss the rush that happened right before the summer movies hit. Lots of new trailers to see! :O
When Akuma and I go to the movies, I don't like to miss the trailers.. but when we make it in time, and I don't see any new ones, I'm kinda sad... then Akuma makes fun of me and says "Well.. you watch them all beforehand anyway!"
So I'm never surprised by what's coming out like I used to be when I was younger XP
