I'm going to use the brocade for the two center panels of the bodice.. and I'm also going to line the inside of the bell sleeves with it. I'm thinking about adding some more of the brocade somewhere, but I really don't have enough to make long strips for the skirt. I need to find out if some bridal places around here carry poofy bridal skirts, b/c I sure as heck don't want to make one XP
I also need to figure out how I'm going to sew the bodice. To be completely honest, my experience with satin is minimal. I've sewn things with it before.. but never an entire garment... so, I'm worried about it puckering.
I think what I'm going to do first is sew all the bodice peices to heavy duty interfacing, so that everything lies down nicely. Then, I'm going to sew it all together. I'll then cut& sew a lining layer, and then sew the two of those together. It should hopefully make it nice, smooth, and flat. After I get the sleeves done, I think I'm going to see if I have any lining here. If I don't, I'll need to go down to Jo Anne's and get some. That won't be a big deal, though, b/c I have to make the whole bodice before I can line it.
My only real obstacle is the fact that I need to add a zipper in the back, and I don't know how! That'll probably be the last thing I do on the bodice before I attach it to the skirt, though.. so I'm not terribly worried. Yet >..<
So... I had to work today at 6 AM.. What the heck? XP I got off early, though, since we just had to complete a project. That's given me a lot of time this afternoon to get things done. (I want to start the Millenia boots so badly, but I have to wait! Bwa!)
I made an appointment to get my hair cut& spa-ed tomorrow. It needs it badly! All the coloring I've done hasn't really fried & dried in general.. but I'm getting a lot more split ends.. so I have to have 3-4 inches cut off. Don't fret, kiddos.. you won't even notice!
I'm tossing around the idea of going to a day spa before the wedding. They have a really tempting bridal package. It's 5 hours of being rubbed& exfoliated in all the right places. I'd get a manicure, a pedicure, a facial, a full body massage, a break (with free lunch!!), some sort of crystal facial scrub to make the skin shine ( or somthing? I dunno.. I really just wanted a facial, manicure, & pedicure) and I think there was another thing or two tossed in there. It's 230.00. That's a lot of $$.. but considering all the pampering I'd get.. I'm really considering it.
There's just a little problem, though. It's 5 hours! I'd have to go at like 9 or 10 am and stay all the way up until I have to go to the arboretum for photos! (I wonder if I can start at 7 or 8 am? Or maybe just the day before?)
So.. I don't know. I'm worried about getting everything set up. I know I have family for that.. but I'll probably check with people before seriously considering it.. because I'm pretty much the only person who knows 100% of what's going on for the wedding right now. Really, though.. the only things I'd been planning on doing the day of the wedding was picking up the flowers, overseeing THINGS, and getting dressed with my two bridesmaids.
But the day spa really sounds like fun! And it's not really anything I think I'd ever get done again. I've been wanting a pedicure somthing fierce for a while now so that I can pay someone to exfoliate my feet. XD Is that weird?
Anyway.. I'm sure it would be really cool, but since it's so expensive, I'd pretty much be there myself, and I don't know how I'd feel about doing that alone. The spa is right next to our fav. Chinese restaurant ^..^ Very close. I'm just a little concerned about how I would possibly fit that into one day.
I guess it all depends on how early the place opens, and whether or not I want it done the day of the wedding, or the day before... and that's IF I cough up the cash. Mighty tempting, though...
